Punjab Kings (PBKS) is in search of a perfect replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who has been sidelined for injury after Lockie Ferguson. PBKS has high chances to qualify for IPL 2025 playoffs. But for that, they have to remain consistent in their upcoming 4 matches. It is a hard task for the PBKS management to find a like-for-like substitution, keeping in mind what Maxwell could offer on the table. But the Aussie all-rounders' off form became a constant headache in the middle order. At present, PBKS is now in a critical position; they are balancing on a thin line between playoffs and exit.

5 players who can be a perfect replacement for Glenn Maxwell, including an Indian:

Chris Green: The South African bowling all-rounder can be a perfect replacement for Glenn Maxwell. Green has played several T20 leagues across the globe but has very little experience playing in the IPL. Green played only one IPL match back in 2020-21 with Kolkata Knight Riders. From then, the 31-year-old cricketer has grown more mature. His recent performance stats with New South Wales are eye-catching.

Gulbadin Naib: After an unimpressive IPL 2024 stint with Delhi Capitals, the Afghan all-rounder did wonders in ILT20. With Dubai Capitals, he batted with a 42.33 batting average and took 11 wickets in 12 matches as well. In subcontinent conditions, a 33-year-old batting allrounder can fit in the PBKS lineup well.

Roston Chase: The West Indian allrounder's right-arm off-spin bowling and lower-order batting abilities can prove useful for Punjab Kings. In March 2025, he had a memorable outing with Barbados. In a first-class match, he scored a hundred and took 7 wickets as well. Roston's experience in playing ILT20, CPL, and BPL shows his ability to adapt to new conditions.

Charith Asalanka: The Sri Lankan all-rounder is currently in great form. In his latest first-class match with Colombo, he hammered a ton. For his nation, he made an unbeaten 78 against Australia in February 2025.

Tanush Kotian: Probably the unluckiest player in the IPL 2025 mega auction to remain unsold. This Indian all-rounder proved his talent in domestic cricket. As per reports, Punjab Kings has roped in the 26-year-old right-arm bowling all-rounder. So, there is a high chance that the Shreyas Iyer-led side can opt to go with Kotian.
