Aakash Chopra picks unselected XI from India’s Asia Cup squad

He has made Shreyas Iyer as the captain of the team and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwas are placed as openers.

The Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025 was announced on August 19. A 15 members squad was announced by the BCCI chief selector Anit Agarkar and India T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav in a press conference. Just after the squad was released, there were several apprehensions at the end of fans on Twitter as many deserving players, according to them, were left out from the squad.

Former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra has cited this aspect of the selection and has prepare a unselected XI from the Asia Cup 2025. He has made Shreyas Iyer as the captain of the team and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwas are placed as openers. The middle order is comprised of KL Rahul, Iyer, and Pant. The all-rounders list includes Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Krunal Pandya. The bowlers are Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj.

“At No. 7 and No. 8, I am keeping Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar. Washi Sundar will give me overs, and he brings depth in my batting. The sort of IPL Krunal Pandya had, I think his name should be kept. I will keep Ravi Bishnoi at No. 9, although Yuzvendra Chahal's name could have also been there. At Nos. 10 and 11, I have kept Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
