Aakash Chopra steps down as commissioner of Entertainers Cricket League

Former Indian cricketer and popular commentator Aakash Chopra created a headline on Sunday (March 22) by announcing his stepping away from the position as league commissioner of the Entertainers Cricket League. 

Entertainers Cricket League is an influencer-driven cricket league, which was founded in 2024. It is a T10 tournament where India's popular social media influencers and content creators participate.

Entertainers Cricket League has already been organised for two seasons. Haryanvi Hunters won the inaugural season in 2024, while Chennai Smashers won the second season in 2025. 

The players' auction for the third season was already organised last June. However, the timeline for the third season of the tournament is still unknown, as there has been no update for several months. 

Now, Aakash Chopra has suddenly come out with a social media post, where the former Indian opener claimed that he stepped away from the league commissioner position of the league. 

Why Aakash Chopra resigned from his role

There is no clarity on the official statement given by the former Indian opener regarding his recent decision on the league. The cloud is darker with no official update for the league for several months. 

What does this mean for the Entertainers Cricket League going forward

Entertainers Cricket League started with six teams in the first season (2024), while the second season (2025) ran with eight teams.

Elvis Yadav, Munawar Faruqui, Anurag Dwivedi, Gaurav Taneja, Sonu Sharma, Rajat Dalal, Rukh Nabeel, Keshav Chaudhary, Lovekesh Kataria, Gagan Sangwan, Awez Darbar, etc., participated in the previous seasons.

Although the auction for the third season has been done, there is no update for the tournament.
