Amid all the IPL 2025 hype, the spotlight suddenly shifted towards Rohit Sharma; he announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday evening. Sharmaed broadcasted this decision through an Instagram post.
Rohit retired from the T20I format just after the ICC T20I World Cup triumph, and now he has also stepped down from Test duties but will continue to play ODIs. It was an out-of-the-blue moment from Indian cricket fans, as Rohit was looking good in recent IPL matches with the Mumbai Indians.
India will travel to England for a long Test after the ongoing IPL season, and BCCI can announce the squad soon. Cricket fans were speculating about Sharma's availability for the tournament. Now, all the rumors and speculations were in vain.

Humiliation continued when they faced Australia in an away tour for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit was not a part of the initial matches of the series. After the announcement to retire from the Test series, netizens are reacting through social media posts.
