India are playing against West Indies in the Super 8 match in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 in Kolkata. On a wonderful pitch, the West Indies scored 194 runs in the first innings. India decided to field first, and as they are chasing now, it doesn't look like a good decision.

The Men in Blue lost Abhishek Sharma in the third over as Akeal Hosein dismissed him on the last ball of the over. The left-handed batter did look good at the start, scoring a couple of boundaries. However, Hosein bowled a back-of-a-length delivery on middle and leg, and the batter tried to pull the ball, but it got the height.

Shimron Hetmyer came under the ball and took a comfortable catch to dismiss the batter. It wasn't a difficult catch, but he kept his eyes on the ball and took a clean catch. Abhishek was dismissed on 10 off 11 balls, including two boundaries.

India are chasing a high score at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, where the pitch looks in the batter's favor. Until the bowlers keep bowling at a good pace, it's difficult for them to beat the hosts. India are likely to pull off a record chase in this match against the Caribbean nation.

Sanju Samson slams half-century against West Indies

After sitting out of the entire tournament, Sanju Samson finally got a chance in the match against Namibia, where he was dismissed early. He was then dropped from the team as Abhishek Sharma came in. Samson then made his way against Zimbabwe in the Super 8, where he scored 26 runs. He gave the much-needed start to the team, which was very helpful.

The last game gave him quite a lot of confidence, and in today's match, he went on to score a half-century. While the batters from the other end kept throwing their wickets, Samson stuck around and batted with utmost confidence. As we write, he is batting with Tilak Varma. India need 60 runs to win in six overs with seven wickets in hand.
