India opener Abhishek Sharma returned to the nets at the R. Premadasa Stadium on the eve of the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash scheduled for Sunday, February 15. in T20 World Cup 2026. His first batting session since leaving the hospital after suffering from food poisoning which had kept him from playing in India's last match against Namibia. As he arrived for training, the team's coaches and fans alike were very closely watching how fit he was before such a huge match in the tournament.

Since there have been so many questions about whether or not he would be available for the big match against Pakistan, the fact that he looked so good and so comfortable batting in the nets has done a lot to quash those questions. He is currently the number one T20I batter in the world and he showed that he is still one of those at the top of the order. If he plays on Sunday, it gives the defending champions an even better chance to win than they had before he returned from being sick. And the Pakistan team continues to keep an eye on him as a threat, but they are feeling confident about playing against the strongest possible Indian team that can be put together in Colombo.

"I really hope Abhishek Sharma will play tomorrow. He is a good player, and we want to play against the best team they have. Really hope he's recovering well and can play," Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said at the pre-match press conference, just hours before the Indian unit entered the nets.

If they want we will play him: Suryakumar Yadav

If Abhishek Sharma plays, then Sanju Samson will leave the top of the batting order. He made a quick 22 runs off 8 balls including 3 sixes before getting out. Fans are expecting to see Abhishek do something great on Sunday against Pakistan. Later, Suryakumar Yadav said they would be happy to add Abhishek to their starting lineup if requested by the Pakistan captain.

"Well, if the Pakistan captain wants to see Abhishek bat, then okay we will play him," Star India captain said.

India's likely Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Varun Chakravarthy
