After some frustrating moments, India finally got a crucial wicket, as Abhishek Sharma's brilliant catch sent Pakistan cricketer Saim Ayub back to the pavilion in their Super Fours meeting at the Asia Cup 2025.

Despite a positive start after losing the toss, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman lost his wicket for 15 off nine balls, as they were down to 21/1 in the third over. In the first over of the match, while Pakistan were yet to open their account, Abhishek Sharma misjudged at the deep third and dropped a chance of the Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan, who was playing an important innings. 

Later in the fifth over, Kuldeep Yadav dropped a comfortable chance of the no.3 batter Saim Ayub, who was batting on four runs after failing to open his account in the first three games of the tournament as an opener. 

Sahibzada was dropped once again by Abhishek Sharma in the eighth over, although it was a very difficult chance at long on, as he tried his best but couldn't hold the ball despite getting a touch on it.

Abhishek Sharma took stunner to dismiss Saim Ayub 

But then the Indian bowlers returned to disciplined bowling, as even the set Pakistan batters were struggling to score runs quickly. After the break in the first innings, India finally got a wicket as Shivam Dube surprised with a wicket. Saim was dismissed for 21 off 17 balls with one four and one six, as Abhishek Sharma grabbed a brilliant catch.

It was a back-of-a-length delivery on off, which Saim pulled with a top edge. Abhishek ran from the deep backward square, and while Kuldeep Yadav was also running for the catch, Abhishek decided to go for it, and he had the full-stretched dive to stunningly take the catch.
