India once again claimed a powerful victory against Pakistan in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2025, as the Men in Blues started the second stage of the tournament strongly on Sunday (September 21) night at Dubai.

After choosing to bowl first, India restricted Pakistan to 171/5 in 20 overs. In reply, India chased down the target in 18.5 overs after losing four wickets. While Pakistan got a strong start after Indian fielders' mistakes, the Indian bowlers returned to discipline in the second half of the innings. At chase, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill thrashed all Pakistan bowlers and made the chase very comfortable.

India recorded successful T20I chase against Pakistan

It was India's highest successful chase against Pakistan in T20I history, as their previous record was chasing the 160-run target on the final ball thriller during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG. Meanwhile, it was the second-highest T20I chase between India vs Pakistan T20I match, while Pakistan successfully chased the 182-run target during the Super Four stage of the Men's T20 Asia Cup 2022. So, the 172-run chase became the fifth-highest successful chase in the Men's T20 Asia Cup history, while it was the highest chase in the ongoing edition.

Asia Cup 2025, Super Fours, IND vs PAK: Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill put up 105-run partnership for the 1st wicket inside 10 overs

Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill slammed a 105-run partnership for the first wicket in just 9.5 overs. Starting the innings with a sixer on the very first ball of the innings, Abhishek finally broke his 30s curse in this tournament and completed a half-century in just 24 balls. He scored 74 off 39 balls with six fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, with eight fours, Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill smashed 47 off 28 balls before he was bowled in the 10th over.

Later, Tilak Varma (30 not out off 19 balls; two fours and two sixes) comfortably guided the Men in Blues to victory with a couple of middle-order partnerships.

In the Pakistan innings, Sahibzada Farhan scored 58 off 45 balls (five fours and three sixes), while there were three more 20s who failed to reach the 22-run mark. Among the Indian bowlers, Shivam Dube was sensational with 4-0-33-2, as he took two crucial wickets of Saim Ayub (21) and the Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan. Also, Varun Chakravarthy was exceptional with the ball, as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-25-0, as he was unlucky for a wicket of Saim Ayub, while Kuldeep Yadav dropped a simple chance. However, ultimately, the Indian opener Abhishek Sharma deservingly won the Player of the Match award for his fiery batting performance.
