For the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), getting one point from the previous Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Punjab Kings due to the washout was a massive relief as they could breathe, having opened their account after two successive defeats. The one point was a bonus as they would have lost from the position they were in against Punjab.

Against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Ajinkya Rahane-led side was put into bat first again. On the fourth delivery of the over, Angkrish Raghuvanshi joined the party with another six. It was a slower delivery, but Avesh couldn’t get the line right. It was on the pads as the right-handed batter used his bottom hand and whipped it over the backward square leg for a massive six.

Rahane-Raghuvanshi partnership settles KKR

It was important for Kolkata to get a strong partnership to settle itself. And Rahane and Raghuvanshi posted 84 runs in 52 balls before the former was dismissed for 41 runs in 24 balls at a strike rate of more than 170, thanks to four boundaries and a pair of sixes.

The latter didn’t last long and made his way back to the hut for 45 runs in 33 balls with the help of five boundaries and a couple of sixes at a strike rate of 136.36. Suddenly, KKR lost all of its momentum.
