The Delhi Capitals (DC) will lock horns against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1 in Lucknow in the upcoming 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The tournament is all set to start from tomorrow, March 28. While Axar Patel will lead DC, Rishabh Pant will be the captain of LSG. Both teams have a strong set of players and will be looking forward to playing some good cricket for the next two months.

Meanwhile, the injury scare looms over DC as Mitchell Starc is reportedly injured ahead of the tournament. His wife, Alyssa Healy, spoke about it on social media while replying to a fan's comment. Hence, Starc is likely to be unavailable in the first half of the tournament due to injury.

What Alyssa Healy said about Mitchell Starc’s injury update

Mitchel Starc's wife, Alyssa Healy, defended her husband on social media by revealing his injury concerns ahead of the IPL 2026. While DC management mentioned that Starc is yet to join the camp because of workload management. They were in constant touch with Cricket Australia (CA) regarding Starc's return.

However, Healy revealed that Starc is injured by replying to a fan's comment on social media. Her comment took the internet by surprise as the DC fans are disappointed on knowing about the injury. She didn't mention what happened to the pacer.

"This is so unfair to us @delhicapitals fan that Hazelwood and Cummins despite being injured will be available for their teams but you wont be," said the fan.

"@anmol_is_here probably cause he’s injured mateif he can’t bowl how’s he supposed to play?!" replied Healy.

How Starc’s absence impacts Delhi Capitals’ bowling plans

Mitchell Starc is one of the best players in the DC set-up. He has years of experience in T20s, including the IPL and has represented many franchises in the past. The seamer has played quality cricket in the past but has retired from T20 internationals. Even for DC, Starc's presence will be a huge boost as he is an incredible new-ball bowler and has a history of taking wickets in the powerplays.

DC will miss their premier bowler, who knows how to read the minds of the batters and trouble them. Moreover, his line and length remain perfect throughout the innings, making it even more dangerous to play towards the death overs. Hence, if he fails to join the team, the franchise will not have one of their most experienced players in the squad.

A section of fans even speculated that Starc might be exaggerating or hiding the full story, sparking debates across social media as IPL 2026 approaches. It will be intriguing to see how the Capitals' owners react to the news.
