Tazmin Brits and South Africa Women's team captain Laura Wolvaardt were looking well set on the surface in Navi Mumbai, rotating strike with singles and big hits against the Indian bowling attack (IND-W vs SA-W). Team India needed a breakthrough badly to defend their first innings total of 298 in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 final.
When the openers of the South Africa Women's team were looking sharp enough to get half-centuries each, India struck. An accurate throw from Amanjot Kaur shattered the stumps at the non-striker's end. Brits tried her best to get into the line, but she missed only by a few inches. The on-field umpire, without seeking help from the third umpire, declared it a run-out. An easy decision for the umpire, joy for Team India, and a much-needed wicket for them.
In the 2025 World Cup, the form of the Brits was never in a straight line. The opener, who scored a century, also got multiple ducks in the tournament. But it was sure; a well-set Brits could be fatal for the defending team. The right-handed batter had to go for 23 runs against 35 balls. During this knock, she hammered a couple of 4s and one over-boundary.

A direct hit run out Tazmin Brits
Brits was in a hurry to make runs at a good pace, as her strike rate was not impressive. Before the run-out, on multiple occasions, she looked in a hurry to steal runs by running between the wickets. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur set an attacking field, putting fielders close to the pitch to put more pressure on the batters. Behind the run-out, Kaur's brilliance as a captain was a perfect example.
During the 3rd ball of the 10th over, when Brits was up against Renuka Singh Thakur, India got their first scalp. Amanjot Kaur collected the ball on the rise, and with one stump to aim at, she hit the bulls eye.
