Sanju Samson has been making headlines for the past few days because of his IPL career. He can move away from the Rajasthan Royals camp and join another IPL franchise; cricket fans saw these types of reports a lot in recent times. When cricket fraternities speculate about his next possible IPL move, Sanju named his all-time cricketing idol during a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin in a YouTube video.

 During the conversation, the former India international and Chennai Super Kings cricketer R Ashwin asked Sanju, "Your all-time cricketing idol, and one modern player that you get excited to watch, as a fan." The quick-fire question was a little bit tricky and tough for Sanju, as there are so many exciting cricketers out there. After taking some time, the keeper-batter did not hesitate to say, "Rohit Sharma." On camera, Sanju Samson said that his all-time cricketing idol and one modern player that he gets excited to watch as a fan is Rohit Sharma.

This reply from Samson might shocksome of the cricket followers, but it was not the first time when the Kerala-born expressed his admiration for Sharma.

Samson's memorable chat with Rohit 

In 2024, Sanju revealed a conversation with Rohit Sharma. Sanju was not a part of the World Cup squad, and naturally, that came as a huge blow for him. Later, Rohit tried to ease the situation for the stumper. That moment, when the skipper himself came to talk with him, became a memorable instance for Sanju.

"I said, 'I will have regret; I could not play a World Cup final with a leader like you.' It will be a regret in my heart that I missed a World Cup final with a leader like Rohit Sharma. That will stay in my life," Samson said in 2024.
