The Indian Premier League (IPL) is famous for its exciting cricket, but a big change has happened off the field before the 2026 season. A group led by the Aditya Birla Group has bought Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a record deal worth about £1.5 billion (Rs 16,700 crore). Aryaman Vikram Birla will be the chairman, but his sister Ananya Birla is getting a lot of attention.

As the new IPL season gets closer, Ananya Birla increased the excitement with a strong message supporting RCB before their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. She shared the popular slogan “Ee Saala Cup Naamdu. LETS GO RCB” on social media, which made fans even more excited.

The phrase “Ee Saala Cup Naamdu” means “This year, the cup is ours.” It is very popular among RCB fans and shows their hope to win the title. By using this slogan, Ananya Birla connected with fans and kept the team’s spirit strong even after the ownership change.

Who is Ananya Birla?

Ananya Birla was born in Mumbai in 1994. She is the eldest daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla, the head of the Aditya Birla Group. After finishing school in Mumbai, she studied economics and management at the University of Oxford. She started her business career very early. At just 17, she launched Svatantra Microfin, a company that gives small loans to women in rural areas. She also started a luxury online store called Ikai Asai and supports mental health through her project, MPower.

Ananya Birla also made a mark in music. She became the first Indian singer to have an English song reach platinum status in India. However, when her music career was doing very well, she decided to stop singing and focus on her business and investments. This decision worked well, and her net worth is now estimated to be between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 1,770 crore.

RCB vs SRH opener builds buzz ahead of IPL 2026 kickoff

The timing of her post has further boosted the excitement around Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s opening match, with fans keen to see if the team can build on last season’s success. The message quickly gained traction on social media, as supporters echoed the slogan and rallied behind the franchise.

As RCB begin their IPL 2026 campaign, the combination of high on-field expectations and strong off-field support highlights the franchise’s deep connection with its fanbase. With influential voices like Ananya Birla backing the team, the “Ee Saala Cup Naamdu” chant once again takes centre stage, now with renewed belief following their title-winning campaign.

In a respectful gesture, RCB will wear black armbands during their opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, paying tribute to fans who tragically lost their lives in a stampede after last year’s celebrations.

The squad has also received a timely boost ahead of the season, with Josh Hazlewood joining the team in Bengaluru just days before the opening fixture. The defending champions will begin their campaign on March 28, with anticipation steadily building among supporters.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, have focused on strengthening their squad during the auction, adding depth to both their batting and bowling units. The management remains confident of a competitive season, with players showing strong form and healthy internal competition ahead of their clash against RCB.
