Andrew Flintoff opened up about his heated exchange

Former English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has relived one of the most unforgettable and iconic moments in cricket history, where he was involved in an argument with Yuvraj Singh during the India-England 2007 T20 World Cup match.

As a result of that argument, Yuvraj smashed Stuart Broad for six monstrous over-boundaries in six balls. That moment had become a turning point of the India-England match. While revisiting the moment, Flintoff admitted that the word exchange during that heated argument went too far.

He also said that his provocation made Yuvraj Singh offended and then he created that infamous moment which will be cherished forever and left English players in shock. He also shared that this incident has taught him how provocation and emotion can change the momentum of a game very quickly.

Andrew Flintoff Revisits One of The Most Unforgettable Moments of Cricket History:

During his recent appearance for an episode of ‘Beard Before Wicket’, Andrew Flintoff shared the story where he talked about the iconic incident of his and Yuvraj Singh’s heated argument from the T20 World Cup match between India and England in 2007. He also accepted that his provocative comments towards Yuvraj in that moment triggered him and then the rest is history.

He recalled, “ So with Yuvraj, we used to go at each other. But it was always in the best intentions and fun. And I think he is brilliant, he is a good lad. And then in that World Cup game against India, my ankle had gone. I thought it was my last game. I was angry and I crossed the line.”

He further said, “ It’s one of the few times in my career I did I think. And then he hit Stuart Broad for six sixes. It should have been me. I was fielding on the boundary after the first one he was looking at me like that. I go oh here we go. And then the second one, he was looking for me again. By the fifth one I wanted him to do it (big laugh).”

In response to Flintoff’s honest realisation, Yuvraj Singh took to his social media and replied to him by calling ‘legend’ with a laughing emoji. This word exchange between these two great players described their friendly relationship. Some people also felt nostalgia after seeing this light-hearted conversation.

India’s One of the Most Thrilling Contests Against England:

In the 2007 T20 World Cup, the match between India and England was a do-or-die match for India after they lost to New Zealand. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir started the innings well and gave the team a solid foundation. Then Yuvraj Singh came into the arena and played in his style. Ahead of the 19th over, Yuvraj and Flintoff got into an argument, and Stuart Broad paid the price. With six sixes in an over, Yuvraj completed his half-century in just 12 balls, which was the fastest in T20I cricket history.

Yuvraj Singh’s fiery innings helped to put the target of 218 runs in front of England, and later India eventually won that match by 18 runs. Before Yuvraj, a player named Herschelle Gibbs achieved the same feat. But this one is more popular because of the gravity of the situation.
