Formula One rookie Arvid Lindblad has been impressed with the rise of the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has broken several records for the Indian side at such a young age. The left-handed batter collected so many runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season for the Rajasthan Royals.

Sooryavanshi hasn’t featured in the last T20I series of three matches against Afghanistan at home, with the management going with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson as the opening pair. They also continued to open the batting during the first four T20Is of the home series against the West Indies.

What Arvid Lindblad said about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rise

Lindblad has emerged as one of the game’s brightest young talents of the debut season. He reflected on his meetings with Sooryavanshi and Shubman Gill as he praised the mature performance with the bat of the Bihar-born.

“He's obviously very impressive. It's amazing to see someone so young performing on such a big stage.” Lindblad expressed in a recent interaction on NDTV.

He also reflected on being lucky to meet the ODI captain of the Indian side. He also spoke about the differences between their sports and the other ways.

“A little bit. Shubman was really nice, and I was lucky to meet him. We spoke briefly about the differences between our sports and some of the ways he manages things. One of the cool aspects of sport is that athletes can learn from each other, but we didn't have a particularly deep conversation. It was a fairly short interaction.” The F1 star concluded the same discussion.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performance so far in his career

Sooryavanshi has played in eight innings for India of the T20I format where he has collected 246 runs at an average of 30.75 and a blistering strike rate of 186.376 with the help of two half-centuries at the best score of 81 runs. He hasn’t feared the bowlers and put them far into the stands.

During the IPL 2026 for the Royals, Sooryavanshi smashed 776 runs in 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a firing strike rate of 237.50, including five fifties and one century at the best score of 103 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
