Punjab's Young Pace Bowler Gets His First Contract in the Indian Premier League

This 23-year-old seam bowler, who is known for his swing and control during his domestic matches, will be looking to earn a spot in the roster of the 5-time champions in his first match.

Punjab’s Ashwani Kumar, born on 29 August 2001, is one of the most promising youngsters in the booming world of cricket. He started as a kid who clocked a fair amount of achievements by representing his state of Punjab in under-age tournaments. Ever since making his first-class debut in 2019, he has played in all formats of cricket. His ability to bowl at critical stages particularly shines through. He has also played 4 T20 matches, picking up 2 wickets with an economy of 8.50 runs per over. His domestic performances led the IPL scouts in a bidding frenzy before settling down in MI with a price of 30 lakhs INR at the 2025 IPL auction.
