Despite a brave fight, Afghanistan were eliminated from the Asia Cup 2025, as the Super Fours fixture has been sorted after the confirmation of qualifications from Group B.

Asia Cup 2025: Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualified for Super Fours

Group A teams India and Pakistan both have already qualified for the Super Fours, as India are very likely to finish the group stage as the leader of their group. Meanwhile, the last game of Group B, Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan, was an important game, as three teams were in contention for the Super Fours. While it was the must-win fixture for Afghanistan, their defeat meant the qualifications of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for the Super Fours. Once Sri Lanka reached 101 runs at chase, they confirmed their spot for the Super Fours, as Afghanistan and Bangladesh were fighting to grab the last spot for the Super Fours.

Ultimately, Bangladesh booked their spot in the Super Fours, as Afghanistan failed to reach four points by losing the match against Sri Lanka. While Afghans scored 169/8 in 20 overs after the hard battles, Sri Lanka chased the target in 18.4 overs after losing four wickets. After this match, the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours fixture has been confirmed, while one group stage game is still left, which is India vs Oman, scheduled on Friday (September 19) at Abu Dhabi.
