While the presentation ceremony at the end of the Asia Cup 2025 started more than an hour after the India vs Pakistan Final match, here we can know the reason for that massive delay to start the presentation ceremony.
Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India created new history by winning the Asia Cup 2025 title after beating Pakistan by five wickets with three balls remaining in the tournament Final, as it was their ninth Asia Cup title, including winning the second T20 Asia Cup title.

Asia Cup 2025 Final, India vs Pakistan: Award ceremony delayed
There was an unusually massive delay to begin the presentation ceremony after the end of the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025 Final. While the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, seemed to be waiting, both teams also seemed to be waiting.
According to the Cricbuzz report, "Mohsin Naqvi (ACC chief and PCB chairman) waiting, India waiting but Pakistan haven't emerged from their dressing room, Mohsin on call while on stage having an animated talk with someone."
Ultimately, the presentation ceremony started, but the match referee Richie Richardson wasn't present, as he reportedly had to catch the flight. Later, Pakistani cricketers were present in the ceremony, but they were massively booed by the crowd. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha also took the runners-up prize money, which he threw on the stage before going to talk to Simon Doull.
Asia Cup 2025: Indian team absent in winning medals and trophy
Among the Indian cricketers, Tilak Varma (Player of the Match), Kuldeep Yadav (Value Player of the Tournament), and Abhishek Sharma (Player of the Tournament), were present for their personal awards, but the Team India ultimately informed the ACC that they wouldn't come to take the winning medals and the trophy, as both were likely to be given by the ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chief of PCB.
