AUS vs SA: Warner hits a double ton!

Veteran Australian player David Warner put an end to his Test century dry spell, scoring a double ton in the second match of the series against South Africa on Tuesday. In Melbourne, Warner not only scored a century, but he also turned it into a double ton, using only 254 balls. However, the opening batter had to leave the game shortly after achieving the milestone due to an injury sustained while emphatically celebrating the milestone.

Before reaching the 200-run mark, Warner had been experiencing cramps. However, his celebration of the landmark seems to have made his condition worse. As he sought treatment, the opening batter was also observed clutching his thighs. However, the southpaw eventually ran out of steam and had to retire hurt.

He had cramps multiple times and eventually retired in pain in 200 after being assisted off the field.

With the day’s play now finished, Warner will have the valuable chance to emerge to bat again on Day 3 of the subsequent Test. The opening batter would be expected to fully recover over the course of the night and be ready to bat the following day if necessary.

The 36-year-old, who came into the game under pressure after a lean run, passed 8,000 Test runs on his way to three figures, making him the eighth Australian to do so.

On day two of the second Test, he scored his first century in a Test since January 2020 to prove the doubters wrong. Despite the opposition bowlers’ exhaustion from the scorching heat, he battled the elements and scored 200.
