Australia squad for T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka revealed
Austraia, who failed to qualify for the last year's T20 World Cup, have named the 15-member squad for next year's T20 World Cup 2026, which begins on the first week of February in India and Sri Lanka.

Australia have included Cooper Connolly for their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign in India and Sri Lanka, with Mitchell Owen and Ben Dwarshuis missing out. Connolly didn’t participate in the series against South Africa, New Zealand, or India last year and has played only six T20Is, but has impressed in the BBL for the Perth Scorchers, scoring 170 runs at a strike rate of 166.66 and taking five wickets.
Connolly offers a spin option to Adam Zampa, Matt Kuhnemann, and Glenn Maxwell. Pat Cummins has also been included, with his participation resting on a scan to assess his back. Fundamentally, it remains the same case with Josh Hazlewood and Tim David, whose BBL has been ended by a hamstring injury.

Left-arm seamer Dwarshuis, who plays for Sydney Sixers, is a significant omission, which means there is no place for any left-arm pacer, as they opted for Xavier Bartlett. However, Dwarshuis may come into the equation if Hazlewood doesn’t recover in time.
Australia announce strong and balanced T20 World Cup 2026 squad
The selectors have opted not to include a second wicket-keeper in the 15-man squad, which leaves them at a risky position if Josh Inglis picks up an injury during the event. Glenn Maxwell would perhaps then need to fill the role with the gloves.
“The T20 side has enjoyed a long run of recent success, which enabled the panel to choose a balance of players across the variety of conditions Sri Lanka and India may present. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David are tracking well, and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup.” The National selector, George Bailey, expressed.
Australia’s campaign starts on February 11 against Ireland, followed by group games against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Oman, with all four games taking place in Sri Lanka. They will play three T20Is in Pakistan as preparation for the tournament.
