Babar Azam will return to play for Pakistan in the National T20 Cup to establish his path toward recovery after his unsuccessful performance in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

Domestic stage set for Babar’s comeback bid

The former Pakistan captain faced his strongest international competition as he managed to score only 91 runs during four matches. His strike rate and inability to accelerate under pressure drew sharp criticism, and he was eventually left out of the playing XI in Pakistan’s final Super 8 clash. The move raised eyebrows and intensified debate over his role in the shortest format.

Domestic cricket has become his opportunity for a new beginning. Babar is expected to captain Lahore Region Whites in the National T20 Cup, with the tournament beginning on February 5. The team will begin their season against Peshawar Region at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The competition involves 18 teams which compete in four groups while playing their matches in Faisalabad, Lahore, and Multan. The final match will take place in Faisalabad on March 27.

Babar needs this tournament because it provides him an essential chance to defeat his critics and restore his lost performance state which has been interrupted by news about potential transformations in Pakistan's white-ball team.

Where to watch Babar Azam’s National T20 Cup comeback

The fans who want to know how to watch the matches will find that Faisalabad games will be shown live on Geo Super in Pakistan while Tapmad provides streaming options. Indian viewers can watch the games through the Fancode app and website because there is no television broadcast available.

Babar Azam faces intense public scrutiny while he tries to achieve high expectations because all observers will watch his return to domestic cricket as he works to transform his criticism into a successful comeback.
