Prithvi Shaw didn’t feature in the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to various reasons, one of which was his drop in form. And it continued after he was unsold on the first three occasions during the IPL 2026 auction on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Shaw was excellent in the last few clashes since changing his state team to Maharashtra.

Prithvi Shaw has been excellent with the bat in the IPL with an overall 1892 runs in 79 innings at an average of 24.75 and a strike rate of 147.46, with the help of 14 half-centuries at the best score of 99 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the previous season, during 2024, the opener nailed 198 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 163.63 with one fifty.
