In-form Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan in their home T20I series opener and set their new record winning margin against Pakistan in T20I cricket after bundling out their opponents to a cheap total.

Bangladesh captain Litton Das, under whom Bangladesh just won the away three-match T20I series against the hosts Sri Lanka by 2-1, chose to field first after winning the toss in the three-match T20I series opener against Pakistan at Mirpur. While Pakistan were bundled out for only 110 runs in 19.3 overs, the hosts chased down the target in 15.3 overs after losing only three wickets.

Bangladesh recorded their fastest T20I win against Pakistan after bundling them out for lowest total

While Pakistan recorded their lowest completed total against Bangladesh in T20I cricket, Bangladesh recorded their joint largest T20I winning margin (by wickets) against Pakistan and fastest T20I winning margin against Pakistan by winning it with 27 balls remaining. The Tigers' previous fastest T20I win against Pakistan was with 22 balls remaining in the seven-wicket win during the 2015 Mirpur T20I. It was Bangladesh's fourth T20I win against Pakistan.

Pakistan batters were never capable

From the second over of the innings, Pakistan were losing wickets at regular intervals, as there were no solid partnerships. Apart from the opener Fakhar Zaman, five out of the first six Pakistan batters failed to reach double-digit scores. While Fakhar was the only strong answer for Pakistan, a horrible mix-up with Khushdil Shah ultimately forced the opener to get run out for 44 off 34 balls, where he hit six fours and one six. Meanwhile, Shah (17) and Abbas Afridi (22) were the only other visiting batters to reach double-digit scores in that innings.

Among the Bangladesh bowlers, Taskin Ahmed got three wickets (3/22), and Mustafizur Rahman was outstanding with two wickets in four overs (2/6)

Bangladesh comfortably won despite early hiccups

In reply, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan (1) and the no.3 batter and skipper Litton Das (1) were dismissed cheaply before the completion of the third over. However, another opener Parvez Hossain Emon and the no.4 batter Towhid Hridoy controlled the innings superbly and made the low T20I chase very comfortable for the hosts. While the opener Emon won the Player of the Match award for his 56 not out off 39 balls with three fours and five sixes, he had a 73-run partnership with Hridoy for the third wicket, who scored 36 off 37 balls with two fours and two sixes. Jake Ali remained not out for 15 runs in 10 balls with three fours.

Among the Pakistan bowlers, only the debutant Salman Mirza (2/23) and Abbas Afridi (1/16) managed to pick up wickets in the second innings.
