Bangladesh openers set 176-run partnership
Bangladesh openers Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar provided a very strong start for the hosts with the 176-run partnership for the first wicket. It was the second-highest opening partnership for Bangladesh in ODI history. Their record is a 292-run partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das against Zimbabwe during the 2020 Sylhet ODI.
While Saif scored 80 off 72 balls with six fours and six sixes, Soumya scored 91 off 86 balls with seven fours and four sixes. Later, Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 44 off 55 balls, where he hit three sixes, and Towhid Hridoy scored 28 off 44 balls. The next batters failed to reach the 20-run mark.
Among the Caribbean bowlers, Akeal Hosein got four wickets (4/41). While they utilised all spinners in the 50-over game in the previous ODI of the series, where West Indies won the Super Over, West Indies utilised 43 overs of spinners in the series finale.
Only one West Indies batter managed to reach 20-run mark
West Indies were never in the battle at the chase, as the visitors lost their wickets at regular intervals. Only their no.10 batter Akeal Hosein reached the 20-run mark in that innings as he scored 27 off 15 balls with four fours and one six. There were five more batters to manage double-digit scores, but they failed to reach the 20-run mark.
All four used bowlers from Bangladesh managed to pick up at least two wickets. Nasum Ahmed (3/11) and Rishad Hossain (3/54) took three wickets each, while the skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/35) and Tanvir Islam (2/16) got two wickets each.
