Bar-W vs Ind-W: India Hammer Barbados by 100 runs to Reach Semi-Finals

India’s hope for a medal stays alive. They hammered Barbados in a must-win game for both teams. Batting first, Ind-W were set back early with Smriti Mandhana getting out in the first two overs. Shefali Verma and Jemimah Rodriguez though took control of the game following the wicket. Shefali was aggressive while Rodriguez batted with a lot of maturity to take India to 162. There were a few hurdles in between with a mini-collapse, but Deepti Sharma held the back end pretty well.

Barbados though were in the game until the last five overs of the first innings. In the last five overs, they gave away with a lot of wides and a few no-balls. Overrate issues lost them a fielder in the last over, and they had to make due with just three fielders in the deep, using all for the off-side.

Renuka Singh takes four to run-through Barabados

Coming out to bat, Barbados had a chance with a decent target in front. Renuka Singh though came in and ripped the batting line-up apart. Deandre Dottin, in possibly her final international innings was out for a duck, while Mathews was out in the third over. Renuka Singh took four wickets in her first three overs, making it very tough for Barbados to recover from there. India went on to apply the choke well as Barbados could only manage 62 in their full twenty overs, batting without much intent after the start India had.

India now awaits their opponent in the semi-finals. They face the winner of the NZ-W vs Eng-W game, and will be eagerly watching and waiting for their opponent. Both sides are tough but a win in the Semi-Finals gives them a medal for sure. The team is falling in place well, and with Renuka Singh providing some interesting spells, India could back themselves if they are up against Australia again. They have a tough road ahead but will definitely feel a lot more confident.
