Baroda’s Amit Pasi created history yesterday in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by scoring a century on his T20 debut against Services. He made 114 runs off just 55 balls and equalled the world record set by Pakistan batter Bilal Asif in May 2015 while playing for Sialkot Stallions.

Bilal earlier held the record for the highest score by a debutant in T20 cricket, and now Amit has joined him on the list. Bilal had scored 114 runs off 48 balls with eight fours and 10 sixes. Amit hit 10 fours and nine sixes during his innings.

Asif played five Tests and three ODIs in international cricket and set this record 10 years ago. Earlier, the record was held by Pakistan legend Moin Khan. Passi has now gone past Khan for the highest individual score on T20 debut by a wicketkeeper-batter. Serbia’s Leslie Dunbar is the only other wicketkeeper to score a century on his T20 debut.

Passi now also holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batter on T20 Debut. He is a third batter from India with a ton in the shortest format after Shivam Bandri (106) and Akshath Reddy (105).

Amit Pasi’s Brilliant Knock Helps Baroda Secure 4th Win of the Season

As far as the match is concerned, Baroda relied on Amit Pasi’s superb century to post a huge total of 220 runs at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.

In response, Services started well, with openers Kunwar Pathak and Ravi Chauhan scoring 51 runs each. The pair added 84 runs for the first wicket in just 8.2 overs.

Skipper Mohit Ahlawat also led from the front, scoring 41 runs off 22 balls. However, the rising required run rate caused a collapse, as Services fell from 156/2 to 187/8 during the chase.

In the end, they managed only 207 runs in their 20 overs, giving Baroda their fourth win of the season in seven matches.
