Former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell has strongly criticised Cricket Australia (CA) for its proposed plans to privatise teams in the Big Bash League (BBL) warning that such a move will create lasting effects which will affect the sport.
Chappell expressed concerns that private ownership must not be allowed to take control of the league because this would enable investors from franchise leagues such as the IPL to dominate operations of the national board. He required CA to change its current business strategy because he believed that the league's true worth exists in its benefits to Australian cricket instead of its financial market value.
