BCB president Tamim Iqbal takes major call on Bangladesh cricketers’ salary structure
Tamim Iqbal, newly appointed BCB president, introduces major salary reforms for Bangladesh cricketers, boosting match fees and monthly pay for both men and women players.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board elected Tamim Iqbal as its new president which has begun to create beneficial effects for Bangladesh cricket. The former captain who turned 37 has assumed leadership responsibilities during vital times when the board needs to restore its public image after handling governance problems and recent controversies. His leadership is being seen as a fresh start for the system.
Tamim established his authority during his first days as officeholder by making house-of-worshipments to player welfare initiatives for domestic cricket players. He established a new salary system for men and women cricketers because he understood that players had received insufficient payment during the previous years. The move is expected to improve financial stability and motivation among players while strengthening the overall cricket structure in Bangladesh.
Tamim Iqbal initiates key reforms after taking charge
Tamim Iqbal started his first position at work by launching major changes which would enhance the operations of Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladesh government had dissolved the previous board led by Aminul Islam following an investigation into election irregularities, leading to the formation of a new 11-member ad-hoc committee under Tamim’s leadership.
The committee includes experienced figures such as Minhajul Abedin and Athar Ali Khan, bringing both administrative and cricketing expertise into the setup. The board needs its reputation restored which requires transparent operations to become one of Tamim's main objectives.
He also acknowledged that domestic players had not seen significant salary growth over the past few years. According to him, fair compensation is essential as these players form the backbone of the country’s cricket structure.
New salary structure aims to benefit national players
One of Tamim's first major decisions has been a significant increase in salaries and match fees for both men's and women's domestic cricketers. The cricketing community has shown widespread appreciation for the move.

Tamim admitted he was surprised to learn how low the previous match fees were. The updated system now provides improved financial assistance and motivation for female cricketers which represents a significant milestone in the development of women's cricket in Bangladesh.
