The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a massive cash prize for the India national cricket team after their triumphant campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026.

After an incredible performance in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crores for the Indian team. The World Cup campaign was successful as India won their third title in history. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement regarding the cash reward.
Previously, the 2024 winning team won INR 125 crores after lifting the trophy in Barbados under Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, India’s Champions Trophy-winning team was awarded ₹58 crore, while last year’s Women’s World Cup-winning team took home ₹51 crore.

India scripts history on March 8
Unlike any other ICC event final, the T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand ended up being a one-sided affair. New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner won the toss and decided to put India in to bat first. The decision backfired real quick as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson started attacking the bowlers from the first over. India scored 255 runs in the innings.
In reply, the Kiwis could only score 159 runs and lost the match by 96 runs. It was a disappointing performance from the opponents. Jasprit Bumrah claimed four wickets in the final match and went on to win the Player of the Match award.
