BCCI top officials to meet at HM Amit Shah's residence to elect next president: Report
BCCI is set to finalize its next office-bearers after a high-level meeting at Amit Shah’s residence, with Ganguly, Harbhajan, Raghuram Bhatt, and Kiran More in contention.

According to emerging reports, the BCCI could finalize its next set of office-bearers by September 28 only after conducting a high-level meeting at India's Honourable Home Minister Amit Shah's house. As per Cricbuzz, the meeting could take place on September 20, with the apex body eyeing to wrap up the selection procedure amid the ongoing Asia Cup.
Former cricketer Roger Binny recently left office as the BCCI president, with Rajiv Shukla replacing him on an interim basis. Amid the talks of Binny's potential replacements, the BCCI is understood to conduct a meeting at Amit Shah's house to discuss the matter. The logic behind involving the BJP in the BCCI's decision-making is to ensure that only qualified sportspersons hold high-level administrative positions within the sporting body.
It's worth mentioning that the Indian cricket board held a similar meeting back in 2022 when N. Srinivasan slammed Sourav Ganguly, highlighting his shortcomings as the BCCI president. As a result, Ganguly was made to step down from his role, with Binny assuming the office as his successor.
However, the latest report from Cricbuzz suggests that Ganguly is formally in the race to return to the top position, although it's unclear if he will attend the BCCI's much-talked-about meeting with the BJP decision-makers on September 20.
Contenders for Key BCCI Positions
While Ganguly has thrown his hat into the ring for the BCCI president's role, his former Indian teammate Harbhajan Singh and ex-Karnataka spinner Raghuram Bhatt are also in the mix for the office-bearer positions.

The report also claims that former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More could be one of the high-profile names under consideration despite not being among the state association representatives as a contestant for the elections.
