Bengaluru Police issue traffic advisory for IPL 2026 opener RCB vs SRH, with special gates, cab points, and public transport guidance.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2026 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28, 2026, as well as for the RCB vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match on April 5, 2026. The notice is meant to reduce traffic congestion and keep roads clear.
Speaking at a press conference, Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh said all arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and smooth experience for spectators. He also asked everyone to “cheer responsibly and celebrate safely.”
The Bengaluru Traffic Police also shared details about vehicle restrictions and special measures to maintain order around the stadium. Crowd management steps and practice drills are being conducted to improve safety for fans attending the matches.

Routes, restrictions and timings announced for match day traffic
The Bengaluru Traffic Police has announced restrictions near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for match days. Parking will not be allowed on Queens Road from Balekundri Circle to Queens Circle and up to CTO Junction, and on M.G. Road between Anil Kumble Circle and Queens Circle.
Other roads with limited access include Link Road, Raj Bhavan Road, T. Chowdaiah Road, Race Course Road, Central Street, Cubbon Road, St. Mark’s Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, and Vittal Mallya Road.
Inside Cubbon Park, vehicles cannot be parked at King Road, near the Press Club, Bal Bhavan, and Fountain Road.
Pick-up points for taxis and autorickshaws are set at BRV Ground and Manekshaw Parade Ground, with drop-offs at Gate-6 and Gate-3.
People are encouraged to use public transport, including BMTC buses and the Metro, to reach the stadium easily.
Alternative parking is available at St. Joseph’s Indian High School, St. Joseph’s European School, Freedom Park multi-level parking, Garuda Mall, Shivajinagar Bus Stand (first floor), and UB City Mall to avoid fines or towing.
Key guidelines for fans heading to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium
Fans going to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for IPL 2026 matches should follow the guidelines to make their visit smooth. Entry will be through gates on Cubbon Road, Link Road, and Queens Road. Certain gates are reserved for VIPs, officials, and players, while others are for general spectators. Entry gates include E-1 to E-3, E-18, E-19, E-22, E-23 on the Cubbon Road side, E-11 to E-17 on Link Road, and E-05 and E-08 on Queens Road. Exit gates are E-09 and E-9A, and Gate E-10 is only for players, officials, and VIPs.
Special arrangements have been made for app-based taxis and autorickshaws. Pickup points are BRV Ground and Manekshaw Parade Ground, while drop-off points are near Gate 06 and Gate 03. Fans are advised to use only these points for convenience and to avoid congestion. Authorities have also suggested using public transport, including BMTC buses and Metro services, to reach the stadium easily.
Heavy traffic is expected during the IPL opening ceremony. Fans should plan their journey in advance, follow traffic rules, and cooperate with police and staff to ensure a safe and smooth experience while attending the matches.
