Big blow for PSL 2026 as another foreign star set to leave for IPL 2026

PSL 2026 is set to start in four days with its historic eight teams, while the tournament is still in question with strong overseas names, as it has suffered another big blow with another foreign name withdrawn, according to the latest report. 

PSL 2026 is set to start amid Pakistan-Afghanistan political tension. Although the war-like situation is currently following a ceasefire, the tension is still building. Meanwhile, PSL 2026 is battling with the strong tournament IPL 2026, as both the tournaments are set to run simultaneously due to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.  

PSL 2026 is set to start on March 26, while IPL 2026 will begin on March 28. While some overseas players have already withdrawn their names from the PSL 2026, more are expected amid new injury concerns in the IPL overseas quotas. 

Sri Lankan T20I captain Dasun Shanaka is reportedly set to leave PSL 2026, citing personal reasons. Lahore Qalandars have signed him for the upcoming PSL season. However, there is a strong rumour that Dasun is set to pull out of PSL to earn a new IPL contract.

Which IPL team will Dasun Shanaka join?

The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals have recently suffered a major blow as the English all-rounder Sam Curran has been ruled out of the forthcoming IPL season due to injury.

According to media reports, Dasun is likely to replace Sam Curran, as the Sri Lankan all-rounder can play an aggressive middle-order batting role along with a pace-bowling option and strong fielding character.

In the IPL 2023 season, Dasun made his IPL debut and played three games for the defending champions Gujarat Titans.
