On the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Bihar stun with a world record List A total against Arunachal Pradesh, where Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest List A centurion and closely missed the fastest List A double century, and later captain Sakibul Gani set a new record in Indian cricket.
After Bihar chose to bat first in the Plate Group battle against Arunachal Pradesh at Ranchi, they scored the world record List A total of 574/6 in 50 overs, with the help of three centuries.
Highest List A total: Bihar broke Tamil Nadu's record
It was the second time that a team scored 500+ total in List A history. In November 2022, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Tamil Nadu scored 506/2 against the same Arunachal Pradesh. However, Bihar beat the record by a wide margin.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ayush Loharuka, and Sakibul Gani hit fiery centuries
The proper tone set by the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored 190 off 84 balls after completing his maiden List A century in 36 balls, and recorded the fastest List A 150 runs in just 59 balls. He became the youngest List A centurion, who smashed 16 fours and 15 sixes in his 190-run knock.
Also, Piyush Singh scored 77 off 66 balls (seven fours and two sixes), wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Loharuka scored 116 off 56 balls (11 fours and eight sixes), and captain Sakibul Gani scored 128 not out off just 40 balls (10 fours and 12 sixes).
Captain Sakibul Gani set fastest List A century record
Bihar skipper Sakibul Gani recorded a 32-ball century, which became the fastest List A century by an Indian. In the world List A record book, it became the third fastest century.
There were three back-to-back century partnerships as Vaibhav had a 158-run opening partnership with Mangal Mahrour (33), a 103-run partnership for the second wicket with Piyush, and a 135-run partnership between Piyush and Ayush Loharuka. Also, Ayush and skipper Sakibul had a 94-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
