Bomb blast at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket Ground claims one life, injures several
A bomb blast at Kausar Cricket Ground in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caused tragedy, killing one person and injuring several others, as authorities investigate the targeted attack amid ongoing security challenges in the region.

A tragic incident occurred during a cricket match at Kausar Cricket Ground in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, where a powerful explosion claimed one life and left several others injured. The blast brought panic and chaos among players and spectators who had gathered to enjoy the game.
Police later confirmed that the explosion was a deliberate act, carried out using an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Khar tehsil of Bajaur district. Initial findings suggest it was a targeted attack, raising fresh concerns about security in the region. Authorities have launched investigations and are working to trace and hold accountable those behind the attack.
Bajaur District Police Officer Waqas Rafique stated that militant organizations are believed responsible for carrying out the attack. Security forces are already conducting operations in the area to restore order and prevent further violence. Authorities have assured that those involved in this act of terror will be tracked down and held accountable. He said, “ It appears to be a targeted attack.”
Police Officials Investigating Who is Behind the Attack:
So far, no group has taken responsibility for the deadly blast, but police officials believe it was the work of terrorists. They linked the attack to the recently launched Operation Sarbakaf, an initiative by security forces that began last month to curb militant activity in the region. The incident underscores the ongoing threat and the fragile security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This attack also comes shortly after a series of violent clashes in the province. Just last Saturday, security personnel engaged in two separate encounters with militants. During one of these operations in Kohat district’s Lachi police station limits, three militants were gunned down. Ongoing violent incidents emphasize the difficulties authorities encounter in ensuring lasting peace and maintaining regional stability.
On the same day, another violent episode unfolded when unidentified gunmen attacked a police van near the Darmalak checkpost in Lachi tehsil, killing a police constable. These back-to-back incidents underline the persistent security challenges in Pakistan’s northwest, where law enforcement and security forces remain engaged in operations against militant groups and their growing activities.
