Breaking! IPL 2026 Auction Date Revealed

Huge news regarding the auction of IPL 2026 has emerged on the morning of Friday (October 10, 2025). According to a media report, the IPL Auction for the 2026 season is likely to take place this year during the second or third week of December. 

According to the report published by Cricbuzz, as of now, December 13-15 is considered the probable window for the IPL 2026 auction. Ahead of the auction, which will be a mini auction unlike a mega auction held last season, all of the franchises will have to finalize the names of the players they are willing to retain and release. In the mini auction, there can be multiple high-profile names in search of a new team. According to the report, the date for the retention deadline can be November 15. 

"What, however, can be said with a fair degree of certainty is that the retention deadline is November 15. By then, franchises will have to submit the names of the players they plan to release ahead of the auction", Cricbuzz claimed in their latest report.

IPL 2026 Auction can arrange in India

After the IPL 2025, multiple franchises faced unusual setbacks. Franchises like Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals, who concluded their previous campaign in the bottom half of the points table, like to spend a good amount of money in the upcoming auction. 

It is also reported that the mini auction can be arranged in India. In the previous two editions, the auction was held in Dubai (2023) and then in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2024). But there is no concrete decision yet. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have to take the decision about the venue of the IPL 2026 mini auction.
