The opening match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) will witness both Dhoni and Kohli in action as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clash on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.Buttler likened the atmosphere when Dhoni and Kohli step onto the field to the electrifying vibe of a sold-out concert featuring American pop sensation Taylor Swift.
“There’s this sense of fantasy surrounding the IPL, and the unmatched enthusiasm of the fans. Players like Dhoni and Kohli evoke a reaction akin to that of 10-year-olds at a Taylor Swift concert when they step onto the field. It’s incredible, the sheer noise and excitement the crowd generates just to catch a glimpse of them, even before they’ve started playing,” Buttler remarked to Fancode.

Fans throng stadiums whenever Kohli and Dhoni take the field, as both have elevated India to greater heights in their respective careers. Despite Dhoni’s absence from the national team, his immense fan following remains unaffected.
Buttler, gearing up to represent the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2024, reflected on the adoration lavished upon players like Kohli and Dhoni.
“Traversing through airports, there’s heightened security around them, individuals striving for a selfie or a moment’s proximity. They’re top-tier celebrities with a colossal following. With the advent of social media, their influence is truly remarkable. Witnessing a glimpse of that is quite remarkable,” he remarked.
“At times, one might desire seclusion in their room, seeking refuge. Granted, we don’t experience it to the extent these aforementioned individuals do. However, it’s also gratifying to receive such recognition and feel a semblance of being a rockstar. Indeed, the fans elevate cricket players to an unparalleled level, particularly venerating the prominent Indian stars,” Buttler elaborated.
