In the chase of 227 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during their clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the home side went off to a flying start with 25 runs without any damage in the very first over of the clash.

But for any massive chase to take place, a team needs to continue the onslaught for a longer period. And the three-time champions continued to lose wickets at regular intervals to get away from the chase.

Costly mix-up between Green and Raghuvanshi shifts momentum

One of the biggest mix-ups for KKR in the middle came on the last ball of the power play. The ball before that saw nearly the same incident when Cameron Green was almost dismissed via a run-out due to the miscommunication between him and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

And on the very next delivery, the right-handed batter hit the ball back to Eshan Malinga, who stuck his boot out and half stopped it. Green ensured that he would be back in the crease, but then saw Angkrish Raghuvanshi and decided to go for the single.

Raghuvanshi couldn’t spot the ball, and once he paused, Green was already halfway down the surface and had no option but to go for the run. Malinga ran back, picked up the ball, and broke the stumps. The umpires confirmed that Green was dismissed due to being out of the crease while the stumps were broken.

How the run-out dented KKR during crucial phase

Raghuvanshi celebrated his fifty in just 27 balls, while the new batter, Rinku Singh, didn’t let the Hyderabad side come back into the contest with successive boundaries. He made his way to 25 runs in just 18 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Raghuvanshi was dismissed on the run-out for another miscommunication for 52 runs in 29 balls, scoring six boundaries and a couple of sixes. KKR, suddenly, lost successive wickets and found themselves 120/5 in 11.2 overs.

Brief Scores: KKR 152/6 (Angkrish Raghuvanshi 52, Nitish Reddy 2/17) vs SRH 226/8 (Heinrich Klassen 52, Blessing Muzarabani 4/41)
