Watch: “Can’t take…” – Yuvraj Singh reacts to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma’s ODI World Cup 2027 plans
The World Cup winner and the spin all-rounder of the Indian side, Yuvraj Singh, has reacted to the plans of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, regarding their participation in the ODI World Cup 2027.

Away from the excitment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the million-dollar question, with around 18 months to go for the ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, is whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the two former captains of the Indian side, would be part of the ICC event. Both have been playing the ODI format, having retired from the Tests and T20Is.
Recently, Kohli and Rohit Sharma featured in the away ODI series against Australia, which, as many predicted, could prove to be their last trip as cricketers in the country. They have been in form with runs under their belt in the home series against South Africa and New Zealand.
Yuvraj Singh shares honest take on Kohli and Rohit’s future
During a recent interaction on Sports Tak, the former World Cup winner and India’s spin all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, reckoned that the BCCI, irrespective of carrying the two veterans, should remain crystal clear and firm on their stance and decision.
“It should happen. But I feel that you will need experience in the team. You can’t just take all the young players for the World Cup. You need somebody like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the squad for the World Cup.” Yuvraj expressed on Sports Tak.

The Punjab-born also shed light that Rohit, being the best white-ball opener in the game, having won the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025, would also deserve the respect. But Yuvi reckoned that the Indian board shouldn’t keep these duo in dilemma.
“But the point is that whatever you are thinking, you have to be clear. Don’t keep them in a dilemma. It’s not nice. Because Rohit, who perhaps has been the best white-ball opener, and the winning captain of the World Cup and the Champions Trophy, deserves the respect.” The spin all-rounder addressed.
