The former Mumbai Indians player, who is coaching the England Lions squad alongside Andrew Flintoff, is currently in Abu Dhabi, where they are taking on the Pakistan Shaheens side as part of their limited-overs tour. But their tour is likely to be cut short due to Iran’s missile strikes in the United Arab Emirates, which has been targeted in the Middle East.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has released a statement, making the players’ safety their top priority, as Bairstow took to his social media and replied to a statement video of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, on Iran. The board is also monitoring the situation in the Middle East and has been in contact with the security experts to safeguard their players.

“Can you get us home?”- Bairstow wrote on his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) as the reply went viral in a very few minutes, as many re-posted it around their social media groups. This has been a tough time for the national side.

The current touring party comprises 25 players and coaches, as they are stranded in the UAE. The airspace is closed due to the military strikes, and not just the UAE, but Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait’s airspaces have also been closed.

“The safety and security of our teams and staff is our top priority. We are in contact with security experts and the government in relation to current events in the Middle East, and are following official advice. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation and official advice in relation to the future of these trips.” The ECB expressed in a statement.

Meanwhile, the England women's side is scheduled to reach Abu Dhabi on March 04 for their training camp, which has been postponed. England Lions, led by Jordan Cox, registered a 3-0 whitewash in the T20 series that took place from February 20 to 24 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
