The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is all set to start from March 28, as informed by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. The schedule will be released by March 12, but only for the first 20 days, since the assembly elections are coming up in April. The board will have to make venue changes during that time.

Ahead of the T20 league, Mumbai Indians (MI) have found themselves in dillema. Reports suggest that there is confusion regarding the captaincy, as some members have given Suryakumar Yadav's name. The World Cup-winning captain's name is in contention now. The franchise has not opened up yet regarding this news.

The fans will have to wait for an official confirmation since the news might not be true as well. MI saw a change in captaincy in 2024 when Hardik Pandya moved from the Gujarat Titans (GT). Pandya was handed over the captaincy despite Rohit Sharma's presence. Rohit has been one of the most successful captains in the league, winning five trophies altogether.

MI players have not yet regrouped for their training camps. Players like Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya played in the T20 World Cup final. Hence, they'll take a break, spend some time off, and then join the camp ahead of the tournament.

RCB and CSK likely to play IPL 2026 opener

The IPL will start in a few weeks, but the fans are quite excited about seeing Virat Kohli back in India. Moreover, reports suggest that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all set to play against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the tournament opener.

While there is no clear confirmation from the officials, fans are anticipating a thrilling clash between the two teams. Kohli also posted a video on social media where he was spotted practicing for the tournament. He mentioned in the caption, 'IPL 2026'. The video went viral on social media as the cricketer was seen hitting some stunning shots.
