Chennai Super Kings (CSK) makes official statement on Sanju Samson’s trade.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finalized the player trade that will see the former side’s captain and wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson, heading to the five-time champions in exchange for the two premier all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, as the committee confirmed on November 15.

Samson, who led the Royals from 2021 until the previous season, had been retained for a price of INR 18 crore ahead of IPL 2025. Super Kings also retained Ravindra Jadeja for the same amount, while they had collected the services of Curran in the auction for INR 2.4 crore. Samson will go to CSK for the same fee, but Jadeja’s fee has been converted to INR 14 crore.

“A transition in a team's journey is never easy. Trading out a player like Ravindra Jadeja, who has been an integral part of the franchise for more than a decade, and Sam Curran was one of the toughest decisions we have taken in the team's history. The decision was taken with mutual understanding with both Jadeja and Curran.CSK managing director, KS Viswanathan, expressed in an official statement.

Samson spent 11 years at the Royals, but he had indicated after IPL 2025 that he was looking for a change and wanted to be released by the Royals. For Jadeja, it’s a comeback to the franchise with whom he started his IPL career, in the very first season in 2008.

“We also welcome Sanju Samson, whose skill set and achievements complement our ambitions. This decision has been made with great thought, respect, and a long-term vision. We are deeply grateful for Jadeja's extraordinary contributions and the legacy he leaves behind. We wish both Jadeja and Curran the best for the future.Kasi addressed.

Jadeja has been one of the mainstays of the Super Kings since 2012. The all-rounder has been a part of the three IPL-winning CSK squads- in 2018, 2021, and 2023. The left-arm spinner has taken over 150 wickets for the Super Kings and has also notched over 2300 runs for the franchise.
