Chris Gayle becomes co-owner of Glasgow franchise in European T20 Premier League
Chris Gayle joins Glasgow Mugafians as co-owner in the European T20 Premier League 2026, a new ICC-sanctioned T20 league featuring six teams across Europe.

The European T20 Premier League has announced the addition of a new franchise, the Glasgow Mugafians, which will represent Scotland in the inaugural 2026 season. Tansha Batra owns the team while the Mugafi Group supports it and West Indies legend Chris Gayle serves as co-owner and global brand ambassador.
The league which Abhishek Bachchan co-owns will become the first ICC-sanctioned T20 franchise competition to operate in Europe. The first edition will occur between August 26 and September 20 in 2026 and will include six teams playing 33 matches in cities such as Glasgow and Amsterdam and Dublin and Belfast and Edinburgh and Rotterdam.
Gayle expands legacy beyond playing career into franchise ownership
Gayle has completed his transition from professional athlete to his new position as an executive director of operations. He has achieved great success as a T20 cricketer but now looks forward to helping European cricket development.

The position of co-owner at Glasgow Mugafians marks a new exciting period of my life according to me. The ETPL is already creating waves globally," Gayle said. He referred to Europe as "cricket's final frontier and he described the league which could identify new players who would become stars.
Glasgow team set to gain global attention with Gayle’s involvement
The ETPL is being developed through a partnership between Cricket Ireland and Cricket Scotland and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association to establish a strong cricketing framework throughout the region.
The league already includes multiple prominent figures who have joined its ranks. Steve Waugh is linked with the Amsterdam franchise while Glenn Maxwell is involved with the Belfast team. The Edinburgh team has support from Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum while Mitchell Santner serves as their expected on-field leader. The ETPL has established itself as an exciting franchise cricket development through its strong ownership and international star power.
