During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Cooper Connolly smashed a massive 102-metre six against Raghu Sharma to cheer up the home crowd.

Mumbai Indians, who won the toss under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah for this contest, decided to bowl first on a surface which was expected to get better in the second innings, making it easier to chase using the smaller boundaries of the ground.

PBKS didn’t make a strong start with the bat, with just 31 runs coming inside the first four overs of the innings. Cooper Connolly, at number three, couldn’t get much bat on the ball and struggled to get the flurry of boundaries at the start of the innings. But he released the pressure with a monster six.

It was the fourth delivery of the fifth over. Raghu made the mistake of overpitching the delivery and letting the batter free his arms. The home side got their first of the match after 45 balls. The left-handed Australian batter got under the delivery and smashed it into the night sky over the long-on region.

In the very next over of the innings, the southpaw powered the back foot punch against Will Jacks for a sweet boundary before getting a bottom edge to finish the over for the same result. However, he couldn’t get going post that and was dismissed for 21 runs off 22 balls. He now has smashed 436 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of more than 160.

Their opening batter, Prabhsimran Singh, smashed a thrilling knock of 57 runs in 32 balls at a strike rate of nearly 180, shouldering on six boundaries and four sixes. But none of these were enough to fire up the Kings towards the end. Later, it was Azmatullah Omarzai, who nailed 38 runs in 17 balls at a strike rate of 223.53, with the help of two fours and four sixes.
