In yet another impressive performance in the IPL 2026 edition, Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerged victorious over Punjab Kings in an exhilarating match played at Dharamsala. This win came as a boost for RCB’s playoff prospects, whereas Punjab Kings had suffered their sixth consecutive loss in the tournament.

Once again, the limelight was on Virat Kohli due to his exquisite batting performance that made RCB take charge of the game right from the start. A spectacular shot played by Virat Kohli in the powerplay ended up going viral across the internet when it got featured on Star Sports India channel.

RCB Cruise to Win as PBKS Slump to Sixth Straight Defeat

The elegance of Virat Kohli showcased itself immediately when he walked to the crease in a high-scoring match being played in the evening in Dharamsala. His first six was not only a boundary but a statement of his intent, relieving any early pressure from the innings, settling the RCB dugout and providing a spark to an innings on a pitch where clean striking was rewarded.

Watch the video:

After losing a wicket quickly, Kohli worked well with several players - notably Devdutt Padikkal- before accelerating to make 58 runs off 37 balls (four fours and three sixes) and provide RCB with a platform from which to launch into their innings. Venkatesh Iyer was outstanding from Kohli's dismissal, scoring 73 not out off 40 balls; this helped RCB to a total of 222/4.

RCB's bowlers provided a disciplined display on a flat pitch, forcing Punjab Kings to struggle throughout and to ultimately lose by a large margin. With their sixth consecutive loss, PBKS suffered a significant setback in their pursuit of a playoff berth while RCB advanced one step closer to qualification.

Kohli Now Has 500+ Runs This Season, Only Third Batter Ever to Do It

Another milestone was added to Virat Kohli’s already glorious IPL journey during the encounter with Punjab Kings. The former RCB captain recorded his 67th fifty in the Indian Premier League and continued to justify his status as one of the most consistent players in the history of the competition.

Through this inning, Kohli also surpassed the 500-run barrier in the ongoing IPL edition. Only two other batters in IPL history have managed to notch up 500-plus runs in three successive editions of the competition, which speaks volumes about Kohli’s consistency and desire to perform at the highest level.

The experienced batter is once again leading the charge for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in key games. Although Kohli struggled to deliver in some early encounters this IPL, he has since rebounded splendidly and is still an integral part of the Bengaluru team’s fight for a play-off berth. Furthermore, Kohli’s statistics against Punjab Kings continue to accumulate. The Indian cricketer currently owns the record for scoring the maximum number of runs by any batter against a particular team in IPL history.
