Chennai Super Kings (CSK) paid tribute to Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid ahead of IPL 2026 with a special honour at their Super Kings Academy. The former Indian captain and mentor was presented with a nameplate as a mark of respect for his immense contribution to Indian cricket and his role in guiding young players.
The nameplate read, "The Great Wall was not built in a day," symbolising Dravid’s patience, dedication, and enduring legacy on and off the field. The gesture highlighted the admiration that the franchise, players, and fans hold for the legendary cricketer, often regarded as one of India’s finest and most dependable batsmen.
Dravid interacted with academy players, shared insights from his illustrious career, and encouraged the next generation of cricketers to focus on discipline, hard work, and perseverance. It doubled as a celebration of the academy’s rapid growth, now spanning over 45 centres across India and abroad, nurturing young talent from local grounds to international pitches.
Dravid actively engaged with the students, shared valuable insights from his illustrious career, distributed awards, and unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the academy’s achievements. Rahul Dravid’s contribution to Indian cricket and legacy
Rahul Dravid’s cricket journey began in age-group cricket, moved through a successful first-class career with Karnataka, and reached its peak with 16 years playing for India. Known as “The Wall,” he scored over 10,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs, led India to historic wins overseas, and later became a coach. After retiring, he mentored junior teams, headed the National Cricket Academy, and guided India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.
A few days ago, Dravid received the Col. C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, joining other cricket legends who inspired him. He said it was a great privilege and that the earlier winners had set high standards he had tried to follow.
