David Warner overtakes Virat Kohli in elusive milestone in T20 cricket.

The former left-handed opening batter of Australia, David Warner, has still been an active player in the shortest format across the franchise cricket around the world. He has overtaken the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, to become the fifth leading run-getter in the 20-over format. Being active in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kohli will have the chance to turn the table.
Virat Kohli hanged up his shoes from the shortest format after their title winning campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). Warner achieved the feat during his side, London Spirit’s 10-run defeat against the Manchester Originals in the ongoing season of The Hundred 2025 in England.
Warner played a huge knock of 71 runs in 51 deliveries, with the help of 12 boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 139. The southpaw now has clubbed 13545 runs at an average of 36.80 and a strike rate of over 140, with eight centuries and 113 fifties in the bag at the best score of unbeaten 135 runs.

This is Warner’s maiden season in England for the 100-ball tournament, as he has already smacked 150 runs in three innings at an average of 75 with the strike rate of 141.50, shouldering on two successive half-centuries.
On the flip side, Kohli has smashed 13543 runs in 397 innings at an average of 41.92 with a strike rate of 134.67, thanks to nine centuries and 105 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 122 runs. The leader of the list is the former left-handed batter from the West Indies, Chris Gayle, who discovered this format and smashed 14562 runs in 463 games at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 144.75.
Warner’s London Spirit, with just one victory in three encounters of The Hundred 2025, are at the fifth position in the points table with a net run rate of -0.816. They will now face the Trent Rockets on August 14 at Lord’s.
