Deepti Sharma Takes Major Decision To Betray The Hundred
Deepti Sharma takes a major decision to betray the Hundred for the 2025 season.

India’s successful spin all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, has taken a major decision to betray the London Spirit in the Hundred. She clinched the maiden tile with a straight six in the final but has decided to pull out of the upcoming season to manage his workload. Currently staying in the United Kingdom due to the ongoing series, she has tried to balance the international and franchise commitments.
With a fifty-over World Cup in India looming in the Autumn, the 27-year-old has decided to take a short break, withdrawing her £36,000 contract. She has already been replaced by Charli Knott, the Australian all-rounder, as the Spirits’ squad looks quite different from last season. The defending champions will now try to fill the banks in the lower order.

The defending champions will be under the leadership of Charlie Dean, who replaced injured Heather Knight, while Meg Lanning has been replaced by Grace Harris, and Chris Liddle has taken the head coach position. The withdrawal of Deepti has now added another bonus pressure on the side.

The veteran’s decision means that The Hundred will be without an India player this summer. The BCCI doesn’t grant permission to the active men’s players to travel and play in the overseas league. For the women’s players, few are unavailable due to workload concerns, while others went unsold.
London will also miss the experience of the Agra-born, who has picked up 144 WT20I wickets in 124 innings at an average of under 19 and an economy of just over six. With the bat, the southpaw can be handy in the middle order, having smashed 1093 runs in 80 innings at a strike rate of over 100, thanks to a couple of half-centuries at the best score of 64 runs.
Last season, Deepti smashed 212 runs for the Spirit in six innings at a strike rate of 132.50 and an unbelievable average of 212. With the ball, she bagged eight scalps in eight innings at an economy rate of just under seven. The league will begin on August 05, with the defending champions facing the Oval Invincibles at Lord’s. After four weeks’ of action, the final will take place at the same venue on August 31.
