The 22-year-old South African cricketer Dewald Brevis is busy in the Chennai Super Kings' net ahead of the IPL 2026. The youngster's familiar no-look shot in the practice session impressed many CSK fans.

The joint IPL title record holder Chennai Super Kings are getting ready for IPL 2026, as the franchise is eyeing to set a new title record in the competition's history by lifting it for the sixth time. While they failed to reach the playoffs in the last two seasons, finishing in tenth place last season, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK want to end this unsuccessful streak in the 2026 edition.

Dewald Brevis is the second youngest foreigner for the franchise for the IPL 2026 season, as the youngster is expected to play a massive role for CSK in the upcoming season. While he has already made a significant mark in international cricket, the franchise has a strong expectation of him.

Dewald Brevis’ no-look shot goes viral from CSK practice session

Just like the other IPL franchises, CSK are also coming with some special moments in the net practice. Here, the franchise posted a video of the practice session, where Dewald brilliantly produced a no-look shot to confirm his confidence level ahead of the season. The franchise has called that shot "I.C.O.N.I.C."

Dewald is in good form with the bat. In the recently concluded ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, he was the third-most run-scorer for his team with 207 in seven innings, with an average of 29.57 and a strike rate of 146.80. Although he didn't score any fifties in that tournament, his consistent performances make his character more impressive.

How Dewald Brevis joined CSK in the previous IPL season

Dewald Brevis made his IPL debut in the 2022 season, serving for the Mumbai Indians, who were the first team to win the IPL title five times. While he scored 161 runs in seven innings in the 2022 season (average 23, strike rate 142.47), he scored 69 runs in just three games in the 2024 season for the same team (average 23, strike rate 116.94).

Dewald joined the CSK in the IPL 2025 as a replacement player. Although he played only six games for the franchise that season, he was the fourth-highest run-scorer for his team. The right-handed middle-order batter scored 225 runs in six innings with an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180, including two half-centuries. He was the second most six-hitter for his team that season, as the right-handed batter smashed 17 sixes for his team.

Fans react to Brevis’ audacious shot before IPL 2026

Many CSK fans are impressed after seeing Dewald's no-look shot in the CSK practice session. However, a few people have criticised this kind of shot.
