One of the highlights of Day 2 was Dhruv Jurel. He made his half-century, then the century memorable by special gestures. It was Jurel's maiden century in the Whites. With a boundary against West Indies captain and spinner Roston Chase, the keeper-batter touched the landmark. Jurel came into the playing XI for the Test series to replace injured Rishabh Pant. So far, Jurel has been doing his job extremely well. After some highflying moves with the gloves, the middle-order batter scored a century in the first innings. Against 210 balls, he scored 125 runs with 15 boundaries and 3 over boundaries.

After completing the century, the emerging cricketer gave a salute-like gesture to pay a tribute to his father who served in the Indian Army. The crowd in the stadium erupted in joy, Jurel removed his helmet, raised his bat high, and relised the moment, a dream come true moment for Dhruv Jurel.

Jurel’s father, Nem Chand, is a retired Havildar of the Indian Army who served in the 1999 Kargil War. In the past, Dhruv informed that the salute is a tribute to his father’s service.

"The last day, I spoke to him, my father indirectly told me ‘ek salute to dikha de (show me the salute once). He was a Kargil war veteran so my celebration was for him", Jurel had told the BCCI in an interview.
