A fresh controversy has emerged around Virat Kohli and Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan. Dinesh Falahari, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, has made a sensational claim that ₹5 crore was allegedly spent to bring the Indian cricketer to the ashram. However, this claim has not been independently verified.
Falahari Maharaj has raised several questions about the activities at Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in a letter. He alleged that Kohli was invited for ₹5 crore in an attempt to increase Premanand Maharaj’s popularity. He also claimed that some people disguised as sadhus may be involved in illegal activities and said this could affect the saint’s image. These allegations remain unverified.
Falahari Maharaj has also appealed to the government to provide Z+ security to Premanand Maharaj. He urged the saint to stay at Govardhan Girirajji and expressed concerns about his safety. The ₹5 crore claim involving Virat Kohli has now drawn fresh attention following the letter.

Who Is Dinesh Falhari and what did he say about the Indian superstar batter?
Dinesh Falhari is the president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, an organisation associated with the ongoing campaign concerning the Krishna Janmabhoomi site in Mathura. In March 2025, he announced a ₹21 lakh reward for anyone who demolished Aurangzeb’s tomb in Maharashtra. He also raised objections to a New Year’s event featuring Sunny Leone in Mathura, which was later cancelled.
In the viral video, Falhari claimed that some people had entered Vrindavan’s religious circles while being involved in property dealings. He said he had urged Premanand Maharaj to leave Vrindavan and move to Govardhan. He further alleged that the people who brought Virat Kohli to meet Premanand Maharaj had spent ₹5 crore and were also involved in property dealings.
Falhari said, “Jo log paanch crore rupaye dekar Virat Kohli ko laaye the, wahi log Yamuna Khatak ko bechne mein lage hue hain.” He also alleged that these groups had built a large property empire and were damaging Premanand Maharaj’s image. These claims have not been independently verified.

Falhari further claimed that Premanand Maharaj became widely known after Virat Kohli visited him. He alleged that property groups helped bring Kohli to the ashram when the saint was not as widely known. “Jab Maharaj ji ko itni pehchaan nahi mili thi, tab woh Virat Kohli ko lekar aaye aur Maharaj ji ka naam poore vishv mein roshan kiya. Isse Maharaj ji ki TRP bhi badhi,” he said.
Falhari added that Premanand Maharaj no longer needs publicity and urged him to move to Govardhan and stay near Giriraj Ji. He concluded by saying, “Ab aap is maya-moh aur is janjaal se door ho jaiye. Giriraj ji, Govardhan aa jaiye aur wahin baithkar tapasya kijiye.”
Inside Virat Kohli's Vrindavan visit: Where did the ₹5 crore claim come from?
Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, have shared a growing spiritual connection with Vrindavan. The couple first made headlines for their visit in January 2023, when they visited the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Maa Anandamayi Ashram. They later met Premanand Maharaj at the Shri Radha Keli Kunj Ashram several times, including visits in January and May 2025. The couple also returned to Vrindavan in December 2025 and made multiple visits in 2026 for spiritual guidance and blessings.
The ₹5 crore claim came from Dinesh Falhari, president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas. According to reports, Falhari alleged that a builder or property-linked group spent ₹5 crore to facilitate Kohli’s first reported meeting with Premanand Maharaj. He further claimed that the money was linked to efforts to increase the popularity and influence of the spiritual leader and that there was a larger property-related interest behind the arrangement. Falhari reportedly raised these allegations in a letter seeking government intervention and security for the spiritual leader.

However, there is no independent confirmation that the Indian batter personally received ₹5 crore for visiting the ashram. No verified payment record, agreement or statement from Kohli or his representatives has been made public so far. Therefore, the ₹5 crore figure remains an allegation, and it should not be presented as an established fact.
What is confirmed so far? Has Kohli's team or the Ashram responded?
The ₹5 crore payment claim is currently an allegation and has not been established as a fact. Reports covering the controversy have also stated that the claim has not been independently verified. There is no confirmed evidence showing that Virat Kohli was paid ₹5 crore to visit Premanand Maharaj.
Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Premanand Maharaj’s ashram has increased following the death of one of his disciples, Deepak Lodhi, along with other allegations related to the spiritual centre. Police investigations into these matters are ongoing.
So far, neither Virat Kohli’s team nor Premanand Maharaj’s ashram has publicly responded to the ₹5 crore payment claim. Until any verified evidence or official statement emerges, the claim remains unconfirmed.
